Some dispensing closures are configured to operate by tilting the dispensing closure in a vertical direction, i.e., upward, in order to dispense product from the container. Other dispensing closures are configured to dispense product in an axial direction, i.e., downward, in order to dispense product from the container. Dispensing closures may be configured to have a push-pull dispensing mechanism, wherein a user may push on the outside of the push-pull dispensing mechanism to dispense product from the container, and then pull on the outside of the push-pull dispensing mechanism to dispense product from the container in a downward direction. The push-pull mechanism may be coupled to a rod, which is rotatable in order to open and close the push-pull dispensing mechanism, in combination with an actuation member, which is configured to actuate the rod. The rod and actuation member may be rotatably coupled to the dispensing closure by an actuation lever. The actuation lever may be located on the side of the dispensing closure, and may be movable between a dispensing position, in which the actuation lever is in a position to be engaged by the actuation member when the push-pull dispensing mechanism is actuated, and an in-use position, in which the actuation lever is in a position not to be engaged by the actuation member when the push-pull dispensing mechanism is actuated.
